This post completely resonated with me, thanks for sharing. I have always believed that one must always take steps in the direction where their heart is. Although, in career this becomes a tougher call and you tend to follow the herd. It takes a lot of courage to do what you’ve done. More power to you! Do keep sharing your journey, you never know you might be enlightening someone’s path.
Congrats on getting back to climbing the right hill!
I jumped between engineer, founder, product manager, and manager of PMs. These days I'm questioning if I'm on the right hill or not. Looking forward to hear more about your new journey.
Congratulations! I'm a PM myself and currently working on a project on the side. Hopefully I'm able to transition fully to the entrepreneurial side of things as it's where my heart lies. Goodluck on this new path you've taken!
Fascinating post - I've done that journey in reverse - being an entrepreneur (digital music startup wiped out by Apple Music/iPod) and migrating over time into product management (safer perhaps?). Power to your elbow as we like to say in the UK!
I can definitely relate to the part about Climbing the wrong hill. I’ve started to embrace a lot more randomness with career as well, focusing mainly on just gaining diverse experience and skills.
Well sometimes the way forward is sideways!
Planning a San Fran trip later in the summer (August/September). Happy to connect.
This is awesome. Best of luck at YC!
